It's not the first time that I have posted the photo associated with these words.
But it is the first time that an entire year has passed since it was taken.
One year ago on this very day.
At the time I didn't know the significance of that photo,
the significance of that moment,
the significance of that good bye.
I can't get that moment back.
That fleeting instant,
now just a memory,
was filled with emotions and experiences that I can never recreate.
It was unique,
irreplaceable,
woven into the fabric of my life in a way that no other moment can replicate.
I can't make more moments like it,
no matter how hard I might wish to.
That trip was somewhat of spontaneity.
Screenwriting dreams coming true.
Accolades received for a script I had written.
The beauty in this achievement was not only what it offered on the surface
but the strong under current of serendipity that came with it.
The film festival took me to the West Coast,
granting us with the blessing of having that cherished moment in the photo.
Each moment is a singular point in time,
shaped by the circumstances,
feelings,
and people involved.
Once it passes,
it slips away into the past,
leaving only echoes behind.
I realize that I can only move forward.
Embrace the present and acknowledge that each new moment is significant in its own right.
Every second that ticks by offers a chance for joy,
growth,
or even sorrow.
I must face each one with an open heart and mind.
This is essential
because we never know how that one moment,
might be the last one that you'll have to hold onto.
Life is unpredictable.
The fragility of our experiences reminds us to cherish the now,
to savor the laughter,
the conversations,
the quiet moments.
It is in this awareness that I find the strength to appreciate the beauty of the present,
understanding that while I cannot return to that cherished moment,
I can honour it by fully engaging with the moments that lie ahead.
Each day brings new opportunities to create memories,
to connect with others,
to connect with your inner self,
to find meaning in the everyday.
Therefore,
I choose to live intentionally,
to recognize the significance of each moment,
knowing that they are all part of a larger tapestry of my life.
In doing so, I not only keep the memory of that special moment alive
but I also open myself up to the endless possibilities that the future holds.
I challenge you to do the same.
Future You will Thank You.
